Ronald McDonald Care Mobile

Providing access to health care where children need it most

In an effort to provide access to health care for under-served children, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region, Inc. and McDonald’s Corporation, in partnership with St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, launched a state-of-the-art health care unit in 2001.

Nearly 15 years later, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile brings dental services directly into local neighborhoods and partners with more than 70 school and community organizations each year that are located in federally-designated dental health provider shortage areas in Philadelphia.

Operated in partnership with St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a two-chair mobile dental clinic on wheels that provides quality diagnostic, preventative and restorative dental care to qualified children at no cost to their families. Children ages one to thirteen qualify for the program if their families are unable to find a Medicaid provider or cannot afford to pay for dental services. Care includes examinations, cleanings, fluoride and sealant treatments, x-rays and fillings, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile staff provides children with dental hygiene instruction. Complicated treatment is referred and emergency care is available for returning patients. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Dental Program offers complete, continuous care and serves as a dental home for more than 2,000 children each year.
